STORYTELLING PERFORMANCE

To start my storytelling performance, I will be in a dark room with only faint light gleams.  I will start with a very subtle authority taking voice.  Story: The Native Americans, the beginning. Outdoors and survival. The Romans. The colosseum with Outdoor entertainment. The pantheon. The Indoor entertainment. Byzantine Architecture. Hagia Sophia. Gothic Cathedral, the shape of a cross. St peters square brought the St Peters Basilica. Baroque Architecture. Baroque Theatre. The fourth wall was created. Baroque Operas. Music with dialogue. Farinelli, a revered singer. John Cage believed anything could be music. The Renaissance. High authorities were painted in the center. The rebirth that brought Humanism. Early or High Renaissance one with the body the other with earth. Brunelleschi had linear perspective. Alberti set up the rules for Renaissance painting. Perspective, Sculpture, Architecture. Raphael created the School of Athens with those of the highest authorities doing norm...

Post # 19- READING, DISCUSSION, AND GRQ – ANNE COLLINS GOODYEAR LAUNCHING "HYBRID PRACTICES"IN THE 1960s On the Perils and Promise of Art and Technology

Reading- The meaning of "hybrid practices," could mean many things. In art though, it means being able to combine many minds and resources to create something better than just "art." Art doesn't have one definition. If art can be anything why is there even such thing at the word "ART?" Th hybrid practices question new media and practices that we cannot define or put into one category because art is ANYTHING and will forever be anything.  Discussion- Dimensions of dialogue was very confusing and weird. The first video was different objects being built into globs of a lot of random stuff and they eat each other up and slowly make clay. In my opinion this means that anything can be art. It will slowly be something one day. This second video was clay male and female fighting and slowly they have relations but then have a fight and demolish each other. This means that maybe they had an unwanted child or relationships aren't always perfect. The third vi...

Post #18- LECTURE - ELECTRONIC MEDIA and PERFORMANCE

Experimental film is performance art with a camera. It doesn't have to tell a story, or it doesn't have to have a message. It can relate to deep feelings or messages, or it can also be very boring. It was social and personal expression. There was no wrong answer. 9 evenings and theatre and engineering were becoming performance and technology. It was Avant Garde. Anything is art. Scientists began to create art. EAT (experience art and technology) was many people coming together to create art. It showed collaboration of art and technology. Electronic art works with technology! Father of video art Naum June Paik purchased the first Sony portapak. He created a brand-new art form.... Video Art. He also created the Magnet T.V. The electronic superhighway was to say that someday we will be able to connect from anywhere. David Halls TV interruptions was an installation of seven video works that were initially commercials, but it was to just relax and leave the world for a couple of mi...

PERFORMANCE ART

Our performance art piece reflected eating disorders, and how they affect those in their everyday lives. We created a very uncomfortable environment by making the room pitch black. This will contribute to the script, and how our words will project in the room. While we say our lines in the dark, each person who is saying their line raises their flashlight and only flashes it on themselves reflecting their inner thoughts or the words on the script. While each person is saying their lines, the whole room is just staring into a dark ibis. This makes it very awkward as well. After we finish the whole script, we then start to eat the pizza in silence. All you can hear is our breathing and chewing. Just like Andy Warhol eating a hamburger, we did it with pizza in the dark. We were sitting in silence until everyone finished their pizza. We then enacted our situations per eating disorder assigned to each group member. After the event we ended it by leaving the room.  My contributions...
