Post #10- lecture-Industrial Revolution

The industrial revolution brought rapid changes in transportation, manufacturing, and the best of all technology. The Rennaissance had rules, but during the 19th century the rules could be broken and there was free expression in art. Avant Garde brought pieces of art that were ahead of their time, very out of the box. Modernism was a revolutionary way to break from the past and bring news forms of expressionism. Out with the old in with the new. Impressionism was a look that was "unfinished" or "sketchy." Painters were interested in capturing subject matters, everyday life. Post impressionist era brought subject matters and structure back and thought that was lost. They favored symbolic content and structure. Symbolism was a literary movement that should represent emotion instead of the real world. Fauvism was an avant-garde movement that brought non-naturalistic colors and simplifies forms. They didn't want to mimic nature or re-create the impression of light. Genre painting brought more paintings of people living their everyday lives. Cubism are paintings that are fragmented subject matters from different points of views. They can be viewed by many angles. Surrealism "if you can imagine it, you can paint it." Anything can be painted if we can see it in our heads. Magritte was an avant-garde movement that brought creative potential of the unconscious mind. Diverse styles and techniques emphasizing to an artist's liberty. Abstract expressionism should be 2-D and not 3-D. There was no interpretation it was just there.  Abstract Art does not communicate with reality, it's just lines, colors, shapes and forms. The process is a performance. Many people have influenced these movements of art. Clement Greenberg was someone who brought his love of Abstract Expressionism. He brought the word "Kitsch," which means that art is for people that aren't educated on any artforms so they can't have the liberty to judge or give opinions on art. Gauguin was a very evil man. He incorporated himself in many of his paintings. He presented himself as a black shadow in his paintings. He would portray the woman that he abused and mistreated in his paintings. Gauguin was before the Fauvism movement.

Post #18- LECTURE - ELECTRONIC MEDIA and PERFORMANCE

Experimental film is performance art with a camera. It doesn't have to tell a story, or it doesn't have to have a message. It can relate to deep feelings or messages, or it can also be very boring. It was social and personal expression. There was no wrong answer. 9 evenings and theatre and engineering were becoming performance and technology. It was Avant Garde. Anything is art. Scientists began to create art. EAT (experience art and technology) was many people coming together to create art. It showed collaboration of art and technology. Electronic art works with technology! Father of video art Naum June Paik purchased the first Sony portapak. He created a brand-new art form.... Video Art. He also created the Magnet T.V. The electronic superhighway was to say that someday we will be able to connect from anywhere. David Halls TV interruptions was an installation of seven video works that were initially commercials, but it was to just relax and leave the world for a couple of mi...

John Cage believed anything could be music. The Renaissance. High authorities were painted in the center. The rebirth that brought Humanism. Early or High Renaissance one with the body the other with earth. Brunelleschi had linear perspective. Alberti set up the rules for Renaissance painting. Perspective, Sculpture, Architecture. Raphael created the School of Athens with those of the highest authorities doing norm...

Post #2- Raul Cuero I very much agree with Raul Cuero. Being able to innovate is having something added onto, but being able to invent is way more important because we get to be a part of something new.  Everyone can be creative especially those who want to invent something are more creative than those who want to innovate on something that has existed. Everyone has their own creative mind and I agree with what he said over being you and your own inventor.  In my daily life, I can apply what Raul said, by being able to not follow instructions that were given but being able to innovate them and apply and invent new ones that can get me a better end result. Rues to need to be followed but being creative is by following them, but being able to do it in your way.  Notes from short video watched in class: The pheromones are molecules that make a connection when the temperature gets higher.  Information you pick up, you need to apply it to be knowledge, if you don't ...
